Stand out in the marketplace to reap the benefits of the spending season!

Stand out in the marketplace to reap the benefits of the spending season! It's a little bit crazy how time flies so fast, and I can't believe it's almost the end of the year already!

A friend at the gym told me this morning that the older you get, the quicker the years go by, and I was like, "Uh-huh!, that's exactly right!" Do you agree?

Before we bid our goodbyes to the good ol' 2022, let's think about how we can stand out in the marketplace to reap the benefits of the spending season.

This is such a fun time for businesses that are into Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Before it arrived in Australia, we were just watching all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday buzz in America, where you get TVs for $5 USD and people are pretty much selling houses for nothing. Now, we've come to embrace it, and most of the businesses here are participating in this big weekend sales frenzy.

It's been found that Australians are expected to spend a whopping $5.4 billion during the pre-Christmas sales period (14 November to 24 December), that's according to recent findings by the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) in conjunction with Roy Morgan.

For weeks now, our notifications have been blowing up with lots of sales, promotions, and discounts being offered by different stores and retailers across Australia.

Q: What can you do if you don't want to offer a discount?

There are other ways of doing things, like a little add-on or a little offer. It doesn't have to be bottom dollar, or get no mudge.

Q: Does it excite you to receive Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales newsletters?

Last Tuesday, Jenni received an email from this beautiful gym brand about their Black Friday sale, and after that, she'd get another email offering another 10% discount, and then the next day, another 10% discount.

Jenni Walke quote

Why did I play on that first day, when if I waited two or three days, I could have gotten 20 percent more off?" (Jenni, Elephant in the Room Consulting)

The bottom line is that we don't want to be beholden to these kinds of text messages that tell us when the discounts are coming. It's creating this kind of uncomfortable cycle of desperation.
