If you'd told me a few years ago that Telegram would still be powering up businesses in 2025, I'd have raised an eyebrow. But here we are, and clients of mine are still seeing awesome results using it to build community, boost visibility, and get off the noisy treadmill of Facebook groups and inbox overwhelm.
TL;DR - Why Telegram in 2025? (Too long; didn't read 😜)
Telegram is a messaging platform (not owned by Meta) that lets you build direct connections with your audience through channels, groups, bots, and now AI-powered tools. It’s ad-free, SEO-friendly, and ideal for businesses wanting clear communication without the clutter.
Even though I don’t use Telegram for Hello Media myself, plenty of my clients do, PLUS I'm in other companies' Telegram groups, so I'm in it daily in some form or another, and I like it!
So, I’ve kept my eyes (and ears) open on what’s working, what’s new, and why this app deserves a second (or third!) look. Why don't I use Telegram for Hello Media or Positive, Passionate Business Women? Truth? Because I LIKE Facebook, and I'm guiding my email audience to my Facebook groups, or my Facebook group audience to my email database. Adding Telegram (at this stage) is just confusing and muddying the waters! But there are so many entrepreneurs and business owners who really want to be away from Meta-owned platforms ... so Telegram is a great option!
If you’re after a messaging platform that’s NOT owned by Meta, lets you skip the noise, and helps your content cut through; say hey to Telegram.
1. It’s NOT Facebook
Yes, that’s still a valid reason. In 2025, more people are burnt out from Meta’s algorithm roulette. Telegram offers a calmer space, where messages actually land and don’t disappear into an algorithmic black hole. Want your people to actually see your stuff? Telegram wins.
2. It’s free (still!) – and powerful
There are no paywalls to start. You can build a channel, set up bots, create a branded community, and start sharing content without spending a cent. Want to go pro? Premium is optional.
3. Telegram Channels = your own private broadcast system
Think of a Channel like your own mini radio station, blog, podcast and mailing list in one. No replies, no clutter, just you broadcasting. Great for updates, launches, or newsletters in a no-fuss way.
4. Telegram Groups = instant community building
Need to connect humans to humans (not just you to them)? Groups let members chat with each other, not just reply to you. Add polls, quizzes, and now in 2025, emoji, reactions, and topic tabs make it even more interactive.
5. AI is now baked in
Telegram has started integrating Grok (a GPT-style AI tool via xAI), bringing smarter features like summarising chats, filtering spam, and even co-creating content. It’s early days, but worth watching.
6. You can send high-res files, HD photos + even full websites
In 2025, Telegram’s still way ahead when it comes to sending content without squashing it. Share big PDFs, portfolio images, HD videos - even your website demo. (No clunky compression!)
7. Mini Apps are exploding
More than 500 million people are now using Mini Apps in Telegram to order, book, browse, or shop - all inside the app. If you’re a product-based business, this might be your time to explore it.
8. Bots that do the work for you
Telegram bots have levelled up. You can now automate welcome messages, link people to FAQs, take orders, book calls, or drop exclusive content, without lifting a finger. Smart, simple and very 2025.
9. It’s great for SEO + GEO + AEO
Telegram isn’t just a private message app anymore. In 2025, public channels can show up in search results (hello SEO), and AI engines (like ChatGPT or Grok) can crawl keyword-rich pinned posts and FAQs (that’s AEO!). Geo? You can even tag local content or links and use keywords in your Channel name to improve discoverability.
💡 Pro tip: Name your channel with SEO in mind, write snappy pinned posts, and use hashtags.
10. You can monetise, directly
You can run ads inside Telegram (Telegram Ads launched globally), charge for content via Premium Channels, or use it to funnel people into your main offerings. It’s not just chat, it’s conversion-ready.
11. It feels more personal
No ads in your face. No competing notifications. No “boost this post for $30” nags. It’s calm, clear, and a brilliant way to nurture a loyal audience, especially when paired with newsletters or podcasts.
